Thiruppanthurai, hailed as ‘Thiruppenu Perunthurai” by Saint Thirugnanasambandar in Thevaram hymns, is situated 1.5 KM away from Nachiyar Koil. It retains the typical ambiance and holy charm of an ancient Chola hamlet to this day. Well connected by Road to Kumbakonam (12 KM) and the Mayavaram Highroad via Aduthurai (14 KM), it provides easy access to medical, shopping and other facilities. The famous Nachiar Koil local market provides day-to-day Groceries, fresh Vegetables and many other essentials.
Innumerable Saivite and Vaishnavite temples** located in the Cauvery delta region are accessible from this locality. Thiruppanthurai temple itself is a Thevaram sanctified Chola temple with inscriptions dating back to the reign of Parantaka Chola-I (907 – 942 AD).
